Experiencing the World Fellowships (ETW) — Undergraduate international research/internship funding

About this program

The Kellogg Institute at the University of Notre Dame offers Experiencing the World (ETW) Fellowships, including new Global Democracy Fellowships, to support exploratory field projects in Africa, Asia, and Latin America, providing up to $6,000 for projects lasting up to three months. Projects may involve nonprofit work, collaborative faculty research, or preparatory work for senior theses and must substantially deepen the student’s undergraduate experience beyond existing Notre Dame programs. Eligible applicants are Notre Dame first‑year students, sophomores, and juniors; individual-project applicants are expected to meet with Rachel Thiel prior to applying, Global Democracy applicants respond to two essay questions (2–3 students selected per site), and all awardees must complete mandatory pre-departure orientations or forfeit the award.
