Explore the Coast Overnight

The Coastal Conservancy, a state agency in California, offers the Explore the Coast Overnight Program, a $5 million grant opportunity aimed at expanding affordable overnight accommodations along the California coast. The program seeks to increase access for underserved populations, including low- and middle-income individuals, communities of color, and at-risk youth, by funding the construction or renovation of lower-cost lodging options such as hotels, campgrounds, and hostels.

Eligible applicants include public agencies, federally recognized tribes, and nonprofit organizations with 501(c)(3) status, whose purposes align with the Coastal Conservancy's enabling legislation. Priority is given to projects located within 1.5 miles of the coast or within the coastal zone, with consideration for transportation access to the coast for projects farther inland.
