Faculty Fellowships 2027-28

Society for the Humanities at Cornell University invites applications for four full‑year residential Faculty Fellowships for 2027–28 focused on the theme PLAY, supporting Cornell faculty in research and writing with office space, light administrative support, departmental salary plus fringe benefits, and a leave from regular duties while in residence in Ithaca. Fellows are expected to participate in a weekly Fellows Seminar, teach one small graduate/advanced undergraduate seminar, and be regularly present on campus. Applicants must be Cornell faculty at least in their second year of tenure‑track appointment, may not have held the fellowship in the past ten years, and normally come from humanities departments (faculty from other units with dean agreement to cover salary may apply); appointments require department chair consent and dean approval. Submit a single PDF with CV, chair’s letter committing to release, one‑page abstract and a 1,000–2,000 word project statement, course proposal, up to three articles, and an external referee letter to humctr@cornell.edu by October 30, 2026.
