Faculty Initiatives Grant (NYU GRI)

About this program

NYU Office of the Provost’s Global Research Initiatives (GRI) offers Faculty Initiatives Grants to individual NYU faculty to support international conferences, workshops, and exchanges—especially projects that establish research links with NYU Global Academic Centers—with typical awards of $5,000–$15,000 for small- to mid-sized events. Events may be held at Global Academic Centers or Washington Square; GRI provides funding only (no administrative or in-person support) and awards cannot be used for personnel, honoraria, stipends, or student-related expenses. Applicants must be NYU faculty, have finalized event dates and venues (events at Global Academic Centers must be negotiated with the site in advance), and follow semester-based application deadlines and GRI FAQs; first-time applicants and proposals lacking other support are prioritized and recurring annual events are generally ineligible. Awardees may receive less than requested, must reconcile expenses with a detailed report and receipts within six weeks after the event, and return any unspent funds.
