Fishery Research

About this program

The Great Lakes Fishery Commission funds basic and applied research that generates science to support healthy Great Lakes ecosystems, sustainable fisheries, and societal benefits. Proposals are solicited from the Great Lakes research community and may address established themes such as fish recruitment, food-web dynamics, native deepwater fish restoration, and human dimensions of fishery management. Applications undergo a competitive, peer-reviewed process led by the Commission’s Board of Technical Experts. Cross-cutting projects spanning multiple themes are particularly encouraged, while non-theme research may also be considered.
