Flash Grant Program

About this program

The North Carolina Biotechnology Center’s Flash Grant Program provides up to $30,000, or $37,500 with an intern supplement for non-R1 universities, for short, focused projects that demonstrate commercial potential and advance life sciences technologies toward translation. FY27 Cycle 2 seeks proposals centered on New Approach Methodologies (NAMs), including organoids, organ-on-a-chip systems, microphysiological systems, high-throughput cell screening, ex vivo human tissues, and related integrative models. Applicants must be researchers at a North Carolina university or nonprofit research institute, and projects primarily focused on AI, in silico modeling, consumer products, or mobile apps are discouraged or ineligible. Cycle 2 proposals are due October 21, 2026, at noon, with the principal investigator required to register in the NCBiotech Funding Portal before submission.
