FRIDG: Technical Assistance Provider Support

About this program

Minnesota Department of Agriculture’s FRIDG: Technical Assistance Provider Support grants fund technical assistance to for-profit, nonprofit, and cooperative self-service retail food establishments to increase availability of affordable, nutritious, and culturally appropriate foods in underserved low- and moderate-income communities. Awards range from $5,000 to $50,000 (collaborative projects up to $200,000), and TA providers may request up to 5% or $2,500 of total project costs to increase institutional knowledge. Eligible applicants are nonprofits, public agencies, and for-profit businesses with capacity to provide needs-based TA to grocers and small food retailers serving underserved communities; eligible activities include business planning, SNAP/WIC assistance, procurement/merchandising, training, outreach, and related support. A 25% cash match is required; the current application period has closed and the FY2026 RFP was expected in late Dec 2025–early Jan 2026, so consult the RFP and past project lists for full details.
