About this program
The Fulbright Finland Foundation offers 2027–28 U.S. Scholar Awards to fund one- to twelve-month research and/or lecturing projects at Finnish higher-education institutions, including general all-discipline awards and numerous named/partner awards (e.g., Fulbright–Aalto Distinguished Chair, Fulbright–Nokia, Fulbright Arctic Initiative). Applications are submitted through the Institute of International Education from February 2026 through September 15, 2026; the earliest grant start is August 2027 with orientation seminars mid‑August 2027 and mid‑January 2028. Eligible applicants are U.S. scholars applying to the Fulbright U.S. Scholar Program (those residing in Finland and students are ineligible); proposals undergo U.S. peer review and subsequent review by Fulbright Finland and partner institutions. Reasonable disability-related cost support and host-finding assistance are available if requested by the application deadline, and review criteria are posted on the Fulbright U.S. Scholar Program website.
