About this program

Fulbright Finland Foundation and the Technology Industries of Finland Centennial Foundation fund the Fulbright–Technology Industries of Finland Postdoctoral Grant to support Finnish postdoctoral researchers in technology-related fields to undertake an 8–12 month research project at a U.S. university or research institution (2027–28), offering up to USD 36,000, J‑1 visa sponsorship, orientation, and Fulbright enrichment. The competition is open for 2027–28 with applications due 1 October 2026 and program activities beginning in 2027 (earliest U.S. start date Aug 1, 2027). Applicants must be Finnish citizens who received their doctorate within four years of the application deadline, must not hold U.S. permanent residency or Finnish–American dual citizenship, and must not already reside in the U.S.; the grant requires beginning the U.S. visit on a Fulbright J‑1 and carries a two‑year home‑country residency obligation. Applications (via IIE) must include a host invitation letter, project statement, CV, copy of passport, bibliography, two recommendation letters, preliminary budget and signed checklist, and research outcomes may not be immediately commercialized or patented during the grant period.
