Gail and Chuck Swanlund Award for Best Texas History Anthology

The Texas State Historical Association offers the $1,000 Gail and Chuck Swanlund Award for the best Texas history anthology, recognizing an edited volume that advances scholarship on Texas or Southwestern history. Eligible applicants include professional historians, graduate students, and vocational historians, with submissions open to edited volumes published within two years of the award year. Entries must primarily contain original, peer-reviewed and annotated academic essays, address pre-2000 history, and present diverse perspectives with potential to encourage further research. Publishers must submit an entry form, nomination form, and four copies of qualifying books published or copyrighted in 2025 or 2026 by November 15, 2026 (or December 1 for books published after October 1), and the winning author must attend the TSHA Annual Meeting.
