Genentech, administered by ARVO, offers a two‑year $100,000 Career Development Award to early‑career investigators establishing independent vision research programs to support research and personnel costs and generate preliminary data for longer‑term funding. Applicants must have an initial faculty appointment and strong local mentorship; ARVO will pair each awardee with an external senior mentor from the eye and vision research community. Applications open August 1, 2026 and close October 1, 2026 and are submitted through ARVO’s online portal, with awardees notified by the end of the calendar year. The four-part application requires an NIH-format biosketch with a ≤250‑word personal statement and one‑page statement of benefit, a 3‑page scientific statement with a 30‑line abstract and budget justification, letters of support (including the local mentor’s biosketch, a department chair letter addressing mentoring and research environment, an additional departmental letter, and at least one personal reference), and affirmations of eligibility and ARVO policy adherence.
