Genentech Career Development Award for Emerging Vision Scientists

Genentech, in partnership with ARVO, funds the Genentech Career Development Award for Emerging Vision Scientists, a two‑year $100,000 grant to help early-career investigators establish independent vision research programs by supporting research and personnel costs and generating preliminary data. Applicants must be early‑career investigators who have received an initial faculty appointment and demonstrate strong mentorship at their home institution; ARVO will pair each recipient with an external senior mentor to support career advancement. Applications are submitted via ARVO’s online system (open Aug 1–Oct 1) and must include an NIH‑style biosketch with a career objectives statement, a 3‑page scientific statement with abstract and budget justification, a local mentor biographical sketch, letters of support (including from the department chair), and required affirmations; awardees are notified by the end of the calendar year.
