Gloria Anzaldúa Rhetorician Award (Graduate Rhetorician Travel Award)

About this program

The Conference on College Composition and Communication (CCCC), part of NCTE, offers the Gloria Anzaldúa Rhetorician Award to support up to three graduate students or first-time presenters with $750 each for travel to present work that engages rhetoric/composition and queer theory or sexual/gender minority experiences; if the Annual Convention is fully online, recipients receive complimentary registration instead. Applicants must have an accepted CCCC Annual Convention proposal and be enrolled in graduate school or be a first-time presenter; applicants are encouraged (but not required) to identify as sexual and gender minorities. Application materials (single PDF) must include the accepted proposal, an expanded 3–5 page abstract, and a one-page statement of interest describing research interests, career plans in rhetoric and composition, and a statement of eligibility. Selection is based on originality, critical engagement with queer studies and rhetoric/composition scholarship, and potential for lasting projects; applications are due October 10, 2026, with winners notified in December.
