Golden Kite Awards

About this program

The Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI) offers the Golden Kite Awards to recognize outstanding children’s literature in eight categories, including fiction, nonfiction, picture books, illustration, and translation. Category winners receive $2,500, while honor recipients receive $500, along with promotional recognition through SCBWI. Eligible applicants must be current SCBWI members through December 2026 and authors, illustrators, or translators of completed books initially published in 2026 by PAL publishers; submissions must be in English and submitted through the publisher. Self-published books, galleys, and physical copies submitted directly by individuals are not accepted, and entries must be submitted by October 31.
