Grain Storage Facility Safety Grant

About this program

Minnesota Department of Agriculture offers the Grain Storage Facility Safety Grant to reimburse purchases and installations of safety equipment for on-farm grain bins and silos (examples: fall protection, staircases/guardrails for bins built before June 2020, engineering guards, dust collection, PPE, and air-quality/level monitoring); $75,000 is available statewide for SFY 2026–27. Grants cover up to 75% of eligible expenses, capped at $400 per bin/silo and $2,400 per farm per fiscal year, with reimbursements issued after work is completed and paid. Eligible applicants are Minnesota farmers (one application per farm per fiscal year) who must have a fully signed grant contract before purchasing; applications are reviewed in received order with priority to those submitted by May 1, and many items and any expenses incurred outside the contract period are ineligible.
