About this program

Princeton University’s Andlinger Center for Energy and the Environment invites proposals supporting innovative, collaborative, interdisciplinary research to advance environmentally sustainable energy and infrastructure systems, aligned with its Industrial Decarbonization, Renewable Energy Systems, and Water‑Energy‑Resource Nexus initiatives and cross‑cutting areas such as enabling technologies, systems analysis, and policy. Two award tracks are offered: Seed projects (one–two PIs) up to $140,000 for one–two years and Convergence projects (two or more PIs) up to $430,000 for one–two years; the Center anticipates funding up to two proposals, with an email of intent due 2026-09-04 and full proposals due 2026-09-21 (selected projects may start as early as January 2027). Only full‑time Princeton faculty or senior research scholars may serve as PI or co‑PI (an individual may be listed on up to two proposals and be lead PI on only one); investigators who received a Convergence award in the previous two cycles cannot serve as PI but may serve as co‑PI, and prior Andlinger awardees must be current on required reports. Proposals (submitted via InfoReady) must meet specified page limits and required elements (cover page, background, objectives/approach, expected outcomes, budget rationale, NSF‑style biosketches, current & pending), will be faculty‑reviewed for originality and impact, and funded projects must submit reports and present results; questions to Charlie Sharpless (csharpless@princeton.edu).
