Grants for Household Hazardous Waste Programs

About this program

The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYSDEC) provides grants to support household hazardous waste collection programs, including contractor services, recycling, treatment, disposal, and related public education. Eligible materials may include pesticides, solvents, paints, vehicle fluids, fluorescent lamps, mercury-containing products, and propane cylinders. Applicants must operate collection programs in full compliance with 6 NYCRR Subpart 362-4 and may not claim indirect, overhead, routine operating, or ineligible waste-management costs. Applications must be submitted through the Statewide Financial System Vendor Portal in January or February for eligible costs incurred during the preceding calendar year.
