Grassroots Arts Program (GAP) Grants

About this program

The North Carolina Arts Council’s Grassroots Arts Program provides funding to support accessible, high-quality arts experiences in all 100 counties through designated Grassroots County Partners. Eligible applicants are invited local arts agencies or other arts organizations, with county governments or school systems serving only temporarily when no qualified arts organization is available. Partners must submit an annual spending plan, provide a one-to-one cash match, follow standardized subgranting procedures, and allocate funds according to county population requirements. Up to 50% may support general operations for eligible arts organizations, while remaining funds must support arts programming or subgrants; temporary government or school-system partners may not use funds for general operations.
