Harry Reid Silver State Research Award

About this program

University of Nevada, Las Vegas offers the Harry Reid Silver State Research Award, a $10,000 stipend presented at the annual Academic Achievement Awards to recognize full-time tenured faculty whose research is highly regarded and responsive to state and community needs. Eligible nominees must be full-time tenured faculty whose work either directly and positively affects Nevada’s economic growth, addresses a relevant community/social need, or demonstrably advances significant scholarship; nominations are initiated by a 1–2 page letter of nomination (the nominator must notify the nominee). Nominees must compile required materials—including cover page, table of contents, letter of application, CV, significant publications or scholarly works, short biography, peer and dean/supervisor letters, and an external community letter—into a single PDF and submit via the UNLV InfoReady Opportunities Portal by 11:59 p.m. PT on January 27, 2026; late submissions will not be considered.
