Harvard Radcliffe Institute offers year‑long fellowships for scientists, writers, scholars, public intellectuals, and artists to pursue ambitious interdisciplinary projects at Harvard, prioritizing work that engages audiences beyond academia and welcoming proposals related to women/gender or the Institute’s 2024–2029 focus on academic freedom and connecting across difference. Applicants must not be enrolled in a degree program or be former Radcliffe fellows (1999–present); eligibility is discipline‑specific—humanities/social‑science and STEM applicants must have received their terminal degree at least four years prior (by Dec 2023 for the 2027–28 year) and meet publication/achievement thresholds, while nonfiction, journalism, and creative‑arts applicants must meet stated professional or publication/exhibition criteria. Applications are submitted online and include a CV, a 1,400‑word project proposal (with bibliography as appropriate), a work sample, and three referees to upload letters; deadlines are Sept 10, 2026 (humanities, social sciences, creative arts, nonfiction and journalism) and Oct 1, 2026 (science, engineering, and mathematics). Fellows receive a $78,000 stipend plus a $5,000 project allowance (with possible relocation, housing, childcare, and healthcare support), hold visiting fellow appointments at Harvard, and are required to reside in the Cambridge/Boston area from September through May.
