About this program
The American Institute of Architects (AIA) Healthcare Design Award recognizes excellence in health care building design, planning, and design-oriented research, including hospitals, clinics, wellness facilities, and related projects. Eligible submissions include new construction, renovations, restorations, unbuilt projects, and planning or research initiatives that demonstrate strong design, sustainability, and social or civic impact. Each entry must identify an AIA Architect member in good standing who is licensed to practice in the United States and affiliated with the project; projects may be located worldwide and completed after January 1, 2020. The 2027 submission period runs August 28–November 3, 2026, with a $450 fee for a single project submission.
