Houghton Library Undergraduate Fellowships

About this program

Houghton Library, in partnership with Harvard’s Summer Humanities and Arts Research Program (SHARP) and the Office of Undergraduate Research and Fellowships, offers competitive 10-week summer fellowships to support undergraduate projects that work with Houghton’s rare books, manuscripts, and related collections. Fellows receive a stipend, River House housing, meals, program and logistical support, and mentoring from library curators to pursue creative, digital, research, or performance projects. Eligibility is limited to currently enrolled Harvard College undergraduates whose proposals make primary and substantive use of Houghton materials, and applications are submitted through the SHARP/URAF summer programs webpage with deadlines typically in mid‑February.
