Hurricane Response Marine Debris Removal Fund 2027

About this program

The National Fish and Wildlife Foundation (NFWF), in partnership with NOAA, will award up to $11 million in 2027 to assess, remove, and properly dispose of man-made marine debris caused by Hurricanes Idalia, Helene, and Milton and Typhoon Mawar in eligible coastal areas of Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Guam. Priority will be given to ready-to-implement projects that benefit coastal communities, industry, habitats, fish, and wildlife; full proposals are due October 21, 2026. Eligible applicants include nonprofit organizations, state, territorial, local and tribal governments and organizations, educational institutions, and commercial entities; federal agencies, foreign organizations, and individuals are ineligible. Projects must comply with applicable federal requirements, demonstrate appropriate authority, permits, technical feasibility, community partnerships, and coordination with relevant state or territorial marine debris agencies.
