About this program

The American Chemical Society's Women Chemists Committee Overcoming Challenges Award honors an undergraduate student who has triumphed over significant hardships to excel in chemistry. The award includes a $250 monetary prize and up to $1,000 for travel expenses to attend the ACS Fall Meeting. Eligibility is limited to undergraduate women (cis, trans, and persons assigned female at birth) enrolled in a two-year chemistry-related program or pursuing a chemistry major/minor at a non-doctoral institution, with at least one semester of college-level chemistry completed and demonstrated resilience in overcoming economic, personal, or academic challenges. Applications are due by April 1, 2025.
