About this program

The Women’s Alzheimer’s Movement (WAM), in partnership with Cleveland Clinic Research’s Neurological & Vision Impact Area, offers the annual WAM Research Award providing up to $200,000 (total costs) over two years to expedite new diagnostics and treatments for Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias in women. Eligible proposals include basic, translational, or clinical research—with encouragement for therapeutics-focused projects and preference for studies addressing sex as a biological variable and for women serving as PI or co‑PI. Applicants must hold an appointment of Assistant Staff or higher and attest that the proposal is not already funded or under internal consideration; submit a scientific abstract and a lay abstract (each ≤200 words) via the InfoReady portal by February 28, 2026 (9:00 pm). Applications are reviewed by a multidisciplinary panel using NIH-style scoring, awardees will be announced by early April with funding possible from June 2026, and recipients must attend the WAM Research Grant Announcement at the WAM Forum (May 7, 2026) and fulfill interim/final reporting and outreach requirements.
