Innovation Grants Program

About this program

Offered through West Virginia’s Research Challenge Fund and overseen by the West Virginia Science and Research Council, the Innovation Grants Program supports undergraduate STEM education by funding modern instructional instruments, supplies, minor laboratory renovations, and curriculum or pedagogy innovations. Funds should be used primarily for instructional purposes but may also support faculty research that actively includes undergraduates. Eligible applicants are primarily undergraduate colleges and universities (PUIs) in West Virginia; faculty at West Virginia University and Marshall University are ineligible, though branch campuses of those universities may apply; maximum award is $40,000 and typically one award is expected. Next proposal due date is October 1, 2026 with anticipated award on November 30, 2026; awards depend on state funding and council approval, and applicants should review the RFP and program FAQ before applying.
