Installation Grants

About this program

EMBO (European Molecular Biology Organization) offers Installation Grants to support group leaders relocating to eligible host countries (Croatia, Czechia, Estonia, Hungary, Greece, Poland, Portugal, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Montenegro, Türkiye); the 2025 call lists an application deadline of 15 April and requires attendance at an online interview on 29 October 2025. Grants target researchers in EMBO subject areas who are negotiating a full‑time group‑leader position at an eligible institute or who have established a laboratory in one of these countries within the past two years. Applicants must have spent at least two consecutive years outside the country where they plan to establish their laboratory during the four years prior to application and should have received their PhD less than nine years before the application year. Extensions for parental leave, illness or military service and special provisions for clinical scientists are available; applicants with exceptional circumstances should contact the EMBO Young Investigator Programme Office for guidance.
