About this program
The Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Interdisciplinary Fellowship supports independent, interdisciplinary research projects that use The Met’s collections, archives, libraries, and institutional resources to connect the arts, humanities, and sciences. Fellows are embedded in a Museum department for 12 months, receiving stipends of $53,000 for junior fellows or $63,000 for senior fellows, plus $6,000 for research travel and health-insurance support. Applicants must hold an MA or higher; junior applicants must be pursuing a PhD, while senior applicants must hold a PhD or be established scholars, and all fellows must reside at The Met throughout the fellowship period. Applications, including a project proposal, work and travel schedules, CV, transcripts for junior applicants, and three recommendation letters, are due October 15, 2026, at 5 p.m. ET.
