International Development & Education Award (IDEA)

About this program

Funded by Conquer Cancer, the ASCO Foundation, the International Development and Education Award supports early-career oncologists in low- and middle-income countries through mentorship, oncology training, attendance at the ASCO Annual Meeting, and a visit to a mentor’s institution. The IDEA-PC track additionally provides specialized palliative-care education and career development, with recipients expected to share their training in their home countries. Applicants must reside in a World Bank–classified low- or middle-income country, be within 10 years of completing oncology training, demonstrate English fluency, and have completed no more than one academic year of formal training in a high-income country; ASCO membership is required. Applications must be submitted in English through the online portal by October 1, 2026; IDEA-PC applicants must also demonstrate an interest in integrating palliative and supportive care.
