About this program

The Internet Society Foundation provides sponsorships to support organization of UN IGF Secretariat‑recognized National and Regional Initiatives (NRIs) and National/Regional Schools on Internet Governance, covering event costs such as venue, catering, publicity, and participant travel or connectivity (equipment purchases are ineligible). Funding is available up to USD 7,500 for national events, USD 15,000 for sub‑regional/regional events and schools, and USD 25,000 for the four recognized Regional IGFs, with each organization eligible for up to two sponsorships per calendar year (one NRI and one SIG). Applicants must register in the Foundation’s Fluxx grants system (at least 24 hours before applying) and submit applications at least 8–10 weeks before the event; NRIs and SIGs must be IGF‑recognized and maintain up‑to‑date public websites showing event date/location, organizing committee/MAG membership, calls for input, past reports/budgets, and demonstrate connections to the broader Internet governance ecosystem. Awardees are required to submit detailed post‑event reports via Fluxx within the Foundation’s deadlines (NRIs: ≤12 weeks; SIGs: ≤6 weeks) and adherence to reporting and accessibility guidelines affects future funding eligibility.
