Intervention Research Grant (AOTF)

About this program

The American Occupational Therapy Foundation (AOTF) awards Intervention Research Grants (IRG) providing up to $100,000 for one year to support pilot intervention studies that generate preliminary data and advance occupational therapy as an evidence‑based profession. The program emphasizes projects addressing racial, social, and health inequities, inclusion of underrepresented populations, and the use of common data elements when appropriate. Eligible principal investigators must hold a terminal research degree (PhD/ScD) or an OTD/EdD with advanced research training, be a credentialed occupational therapist with a full‑time faculty or equivalent research appointment (or a non‑OT with a primary appointment in an OT department), and be employed by a U.S. domestic non‑profit institution; applicants must be U.S. citizens, permanent residents, or in the process of obtaining permanent residence, with institutional assurance for visa holders. Letters of intent open 14 August 2026 with a deadline of 19 September 2026; AOTF gives preferential consideration to early‑career investigators and notes strong downstream success in securing larger federal funding.
