J. Thomas May Memorial Internship

About this program

The Society for Applied Anthropology offers the J. Thomas May Memorial Internship to support students gaining practical experience in nonprofit operations and applied social science through work with the SfAA Office and partner organizations. The internship runs from early January through March or April, provides a $2,250 stipend, and includes travel, seven nights of lodging, and per diem for the SfAA Annual Meeting. Applicants must be undergraduate or graduate students enrolled during the previous academic year, majoring or minoring in the social sciences; doctoral degree holders are ineligible. Applications, due October 10, require a 500-word statement and a recommendation letter from a current academic advisor, with finalists participating in a 30-minute Zoom interview.
