James R. Welch Scholarship

About this program

The Association of Applied Paleontological Sciences (AAPS) offers the $1,000 James R. Welch Scholarship annually to support graduate-level research on macroinvertebrate fossils, particularly field collection and fossil preparation; the award includes a one-year renewable Associate Membership. Applicants must be actively engaged in field research and collecting and need not be AAPS members. Applications must include a project and funding statement, a recommendation letter, a current CV or college transcript, and a recent photograph, and must be received by November 1 for consideration for the following calendar year. International applicants must have a personal bank account capable of receiving U.S. wire transfers.
