John Brinckerhoff Jackson Prize

About this program

The Association of American Geographers offers the John Brinckerhoff Jackson Prize to recognize an American geographer’s engaging, accessible book conveying professional geographic insights about the contemporary United States; the award includes $500 and may include an honorable mention. Eligible works must be sole- or dual-authored books written by geographers and first published in English between October 2025 and September 2026; textbooks, dissertations, edited collections, and articles are excluded, with preference for U.S. citizens or permanent residents. Nominations require a maximum two-page statement with author and nominator contact information, online submission, and shipment of four book copies by October 15, 2026.
