The American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) offers the John G. Moffatt–Frank E. Nichol Harbor and Coastal Engineering Award to recognize innovative, implementable ideas or contributions that advance harbor and coastal engineering or construction and benefit the profession and public. The annual award includes a plaque and an honorarium determined by ASCE. Nominees must be ASCE members in good standing who have made a significant contribution through written work or notable professional performance; every third year, preference is given to port or harbor engineering practitioners. Nominations, due November 1, require a signed cover letter, the nominee’s CV or biographical information, and two or three recommendation letters.
