John M. Templeton, Jr., MD Military Call to Service Scholarship

About this program

The Eastern Association for the Surgery of Trauma (EAST) offers the John M. Templeton, Jr., MD Military Call to Service Scholarship to support two to three early-career military trauma surgeons attending the EAST Annual Scientific Assembly. Recipients may receive up to $3,000 for registration, travel, and lodging expenses. Applicants must be active or reserve members of the U.S. Air Force, Army, or Navy; be in residency or fellowship or within five years of completing training; and be sponsored by an EAST Active or Mentor Member. Applications require a 300–500-word personal statement describing the applicant’s military service commitment, interest in acute care surgery, and future goals, and are due August 31 annually.
