About this program
The Texas State Historical Association offers the annual John W. Crain Texas History Education Award, which provides $2,500 and a certificate to recognize an outstanding educator teaching grades 4–12. Nominees must be full-time educators who have significantly contributed to Texas History Day or Junior Historians of Texas, promoted local history, or participated in TSHA or National History Day workshops. Any person may nominate an eligible educator by submitting a nomination letter, resume or CV, reference letter(s), and supporting details in a packet of no more than five pages by November 15, 2026. The recipient must attend the TSHA Annual Meeting to receive the award.
