About this program

The TREE Fund’s John Z. Duling Grant and Evelyn Duling Endowment Fund Grant Program provides seed funding of up to $15,000 for innovative, early-stage research and technology transfer projects with practical benefits for arborists. Projects should explore untested or transformative approaches and be completed within one to three years. Grants are not available to individuals or for municipal tree surveys, tree planting, traditional forestry, natural-area conservation, or product testing primarily benefiting a manufacturer. Applicants must identify the Principal Investigator and contracting institution in a Letter of Intent due September 1, 2026; only approved LOIs may proceed to the full application due October 15, 2026.
