Judith Plotz Emerging Scholar Award

About this program

The Children’s Literature Association offers the Judith Plotz Emerging Scholar Award annually to recognize outstanding literary criticism focused on children’s literature by new, previously unpublished authors. Eligible articles published in journals or edited collections during 2024 are considered, with submissions due October 10. Applicants must submit an English-language article authored or translated exclusively by the listed author(s), representing their first published article and offering a significant, original contribution through literary, historical, theoretical, or cultural analysis of children’s texts or culture. Reprints and articles published outside the designated year are ineligible; exceptions for limited prior publication may be determined by the committee.
