Junior Fellows of the Simons Society of Fellows

About this program

The Simons Foundation invites nominations for up to 15 Junior Fellows of the Simons Society of Fellows to conduct independent research in mathematics, computer and information science, life sciences, or physical and engineering sciences at an eligible New York City educational institution. Fellows receive a 2027/28 stipend of $102,799, fringe benefits, a $10,000 research allowance, and support for up to three years, beginning July 1, August 1, or September 1, 2027. Candidates must have completed or expect to complete their Ph.D. between May 2025 and August 2027, cannot hold a tenure-track appointment or concurrent fellowship, and must be hosted by an eligible NYC institution with a designated mentor. Nominations must be submitted by an eligible tenured or equivalent nominator through SAM by September 10, 2026, at noon Eastern time, with separate recommender and mentor roles.
