About this program
The South Atlantic Modern Language Association (SAMLA), through the Kenneth M. England Endowed Chair in Southern American Literature, offers up to three awards covering conference registration for Georgia State University students presenting individual papers on southern literatures or broadly conceived southern studies. Applicants must be current GSU graduate or undergraduate students whose proposals demonstrate contributions to southern literary or cultural studies. Applicants may indicate interest when submitting an abstract or be nominated by a panel organizer; abstracts and award nominations are due September 1, and recipients must attend and present at the conference to receive the award.
