About this program
The ARVO Foundation’s Kreissig Award for Excellence in Retinal Surgery recognizes academic clinician-investigators who advance understanding of retinal disease, innovative or minimally invasive surgical approaches, and functional outcomes. The recipient receives a $30,000 honorarium. Applicants must be ARVO members, university- or academically based retina specialists, and have practiced at least 10 years as fully trained posterior-segment surgeons; they must be age 55 or younger at nomination. Applications open August 1, 2026, and close October 1, 2026, with no restrictions on citizenship, residency, sex, or race.
