Kreissig Award for Excellence in Retinal Surgery

ARVO Foundation’s Kreissig Award for Excellence in Retinal Surgery, endowed by Ingrid Kreissig, MD, provides a $30,000 honorarium to clinician-investigators who advance understanding and innovate surgical approaches for retinal disease, emphasizing minimal surgical strategies, novel techniques, and functional outcomes after new retinal surgery. Applicants must be university/academic-based clinician-investigators specializing in retina, have practiced at least 10 years as a fully trained ophthalmologist in posterior segment (retinal) surgery, be ARVO members, and be age 55 or younger at nomination; there are no restrictions on citizenship, residency, sex, or race. Applications open August 1 and close October 1 (listed for 2026 as 2026-08-01 to 2026-10-01), with recipients notified in December.
