About this program

The Kurt Weill Foundation for Music offers dissertation fellowships to support doctoral research on Kurt Weill, Lotte Lenya, and/or Marc Blitzstein, particularly projects addressing significant gaps in existing scholarship. Applicants must be doctoral candidates with exceptional potential, demonstrated through academic recommendations. Required materials include an English application, project description, CV, itemized budget, dissertation proposal, writing sample, and two recommendation letters, including one from the thesis advisor.
