Lawrence T. Jones III Research Fellowship in Civil War Texas History

The Texas State Historical Association awards the annual Lawrence T. Jones III Research Fellowship—a $1,000 prize—to the best research proposal on Texas history and the Civil War. Applicants must submit a proposal (no longer than two pages) that states the research purpose, explains the need for funding, and describes the intended end product (article, book, or exhibition), accompanied by a complete curriculum vitae. Only electronic applications submitted via the online form and received by November 15, 2026 will be considered; the winning recipient must be present at the TSHA Annual Meeting to receive the award and judges may withhold the prize at their discretion.
