AAUW Legal Case Support Grant

About this program

AAUW’s Legal Advocacy Fund provides $5,000–$20,000 grants to support state or federal court cases addressing sex discrimination in employment or education and with potential to establish or reinforce gender-discrimination precedent. Funds are distributed to attorneys for eligible litigation expenses, including attorney fees, expert witnesses, depositions, filing fees, and case-related travel. Applicants must be individuals or classes represented by an attorney, with the attorney submitting the application on their behalf, and must submit an eligible filed case, complaint, current case information, itemized budget, and budget narrative. Applicants must also agree to publicize their case and participate in AAUW events; deadlines are September 30 and January 31.
