Local- and State-Level Policy Work Grants

About this program

The Society for the Psychological Study of Social Issues (SPSSI, Division 9) offers Local- and State-Level Policy Work Grants to support small research/policy groups conducting applied research to influence local or state policy, funding up to three groups per award cycle at up to $2,000 each with two cycles annually. Awardees are expected to review existing literature, conduct additional research as needed, and translate findings to assist policymakers in data-driven decision making. Eligible applicants are small research/policy groups (including groups outside the U.S. addressing local/regional issues); SPSSI members and early-career scholars are especially encouraged to apply, and applicants needing collaborators may contact Policy Director Sarah Mancoll. The program is open with the next deadline listed as September 1, 2026.
