About this program

The Society for the Advancement of Scandinavian Study (SASS) offers the Louis Janus Book Subvention Award to support production costs for research monographs in Nordic studies, with up to three awards of $3,000 annually. Translations into English of significant scholarship or literature originally published in a Nordic language may be considered, but edited article collections are ineligible. Applicants must be tenured, tenure-track, non-tenure-track, independent, or emeritus scholars who are SASS members in good standing. Applications require a brief proposal, press contract, publisher statement regarding publication timing and need, and an updated CV; deadlines are March 1, June 1, and October 1.
