Maine Humanities Book Group Program

About this program

Maine Humanities Council offers Book Group program support to organizations, communities, and individuals across Maine to establish facilitated community reading and discussion groups. Programs may use titles from the Council’s book list or propose other books, with groups receiving facilitation and related support. Applicants must have a connection to Maine, articulate clear goals and community need, and demonstrate capacity to recruit participants and manage logistics; organizations may receive only one Book Group award per year. Applications are accepted July 27–August 18, 2026, for groups beginning November 1, 2026–April 1, 2027.
