About this program

The Association of American Geographers (AAG), through the Marble Fund and with additional support from Jack Dangermond, offers the Marble-Boyle Undergraduate Achievement Award to recognize academic excellence and interdisciplinary work connecting geographic science and computer science. Up to three recipients receive a $1,500 cash prize and certificate, plus a $1,000 travel grant for attending the AAG Annual Meeting in person.

Applicants must be full-time undergraduates at accredited U.S. or Canadian institutions and be within 12 months of graduation, with demonstrated plans for a career or further education using both fields. Applications require an 800-word essay, faculty recommendation, transcript highlighting relevant coursework, and course descriptions; the deadline for 2027 awards is October 15, 2026.
